Getting a good start at ÅEC 2014

As promised, now that I’ve escaped the Chinese censorship of Vimeo, I’ve been able to upload this GoPro paddle video that I quickly clipped together after the Gold Rush race in New Zealand (see previous post).

For those of you training for the Åre Extreme Challenge this June, you may learn a lot about how to get a good “quick start” from this video. Dougal is one of the best multisport paddlers in a country full of great paddlers. Thanks Dougal for letting me stick my GoPro on your boat!

This is just a sample of the footage I got from the race. I sent the rest to Race Director Tim Pearson and hopefully an inspiring film will be forthcoming. Stay tuned … Like I said last year, if you’re planning on coming to NZ to race, I suggest the Gold Rush over Coast to Coast (although both is always an option, too :)
